DaXtra alternative

HireLayer vs DaXtra: a staffing suite or a self-serve API

DaXtra sells mainly to staffing agencies and ATS vendors. It offers parsing, search, ranking and engagement as Core, Pro and Elite tiers, through sales and ATS partners. HireLayer is a developer API: sign up, get a key, call it from your backend and pay published per-credit prices.

Key differences

What separates an agency suite from a developer API

DaXtra and HireLayer rarely compete for the same buyer. The overlap is ATS vendors and staffing platforms that embed parsing in their own product.

  1. 01

    Buying and trying

Every DaXtra call to action is “Request a demo” or “Talk to sales”, and no price is published. HireLayer has a Free plan with 50 credits a month and paid plans you can buy online.

  2. 02

    XML first, versions pinned

DaXtra outputs DaxML, its XML schema, by default; HR-XML and DaxJson are options. Hosted accounts keep the schema version set when the account was created, and changing it goes through support. HireLayer returns JSON only, on the documented V3 contract.

  3. 03

    Staffing integrations

DaXtra claims 400+ integrations and lists Bullhorn, Vincere, JobAdder and iCIMS as live, plus capture, search, branded CV formatting and engagement tools for recruiters. HireLayer has no recruiter interface and no marketplace app; it builds ATS connectors on request.

  4. 04

    Audited vs explained matching

DaXtra’s candidate matching is audited monthly by Warden AI. HireLayer has no third-party bias audit; its Match API returns a status and an explanation for each criterion so your team can review the reasoning.

Where your CVs are processed, and how HireLayer plugs in compared with DaXtra

HireLayer parses in France and keeps AI processing in the EU. Fast mode is in beta and connectors are built on request: the statuses below say exactly that, next to what the other vendor documents.

Integrations

HireLayer has no marketplace apps yet. Connectors for Zapier, Make, Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Tableau or your ATS are built by our team on request; in the meantime every API works from any HTTP step, with an optional webhook on each parse.

DaXtra statuses come from its own documentation and the tools’ marketplaces. “Via API” means no connector exists but the API can be called from that tool.

Cost per CV

DaXtra pricing vs HireLayer pricing

DaXtra does not publish prices. Its parsing page sells three tiers, each through a demo or a sales conversation, so a per-CV comparison needs a written quote.

DaXtra

DaXtra publishes no prices, so the calculator cannot price a monthly volume. HireLayer’s side below uses its public plans.

Lowest published option that covers the volume, at list prices. Excludes enterprise quotes and first-purchase offers. HireLayer credits are shared by all APIs; this assumes they all go to parsing. Bars compare USD equivalents at the ECB reference rate of 2026-09-30 (€1 = $1.1355).

Reading the numbers

Bring the HireLayer figures below to your DaXtra renewal: €24 for 500 parsed CVs, €89 for 2,000 and €449 for a 10,000-credit pack. Ask DaXtra for the same volumes in a written quote that names the billable unit.

Analysis

Formats, API design and extraction in detail

What an ATS or staffing platform team should check before replacing DaXtra.

01

DaxML, HR-XML and DaxJson

DaXtra’s parser returns DaxML by default, an XML schema derived from HR-XML that adds cross-references between the structured profile and the CV text. You can ask for HR-XML with Daxtra extensions, or for DaxJson by calling the REST endpoint with /json.

Hosted accounts receive the schema version set when the account was created (often 2.0.29 according to DaXtra), while the latest is 2.0.40. Moving to a newer version means contacting support. If your code was written against an old schema, any migration, to DaXtra’s latest version or to another vendor, starts with a mapping review.

02

Formats and scans

DaXtra’s technical specification lists a wide input range: Word, PDF including scans, images, RTF, ODT, HTML, e-mail files, Excel, PowerPoint, Apple Pages and archives. Mercury, an ATS that integrates DaXtra, documents an 8 MB limit and advises against CVs saved as images. HireLayer accepts 13 formats including JPG, PNG and BMP scans, with no extra charge for OCR, but no e-mail files, archives or Apple Pages.

03

Staffing workflow coverage

DaXtra covers the agency workflow end to end: capture from mailboxes and job boards, search, matching, branded CV formatting and candidate engagement, inside Bullhorn, Vincere, JobAdder and other ATSs.

HireLayer covers the data steps a platform builds itself: parse the CV (with availability, mobility, driving licences and contract types), extract job criteria, match with explanations and rank a shortlist. Recruiter-facing tools stay in your product.

04

Responsible AI evidence

DaXtra publishes a Warden AI Assured audit of its candidate matching: 102 tests across 25,088 candidate evaluations, repeated monthly. That is stronger third-party evidence than HireLayer offers today.

HireLayer’s Match API returns its reasoning per criterion and a score you can recompute, so reviewers can check each decision, but it has not been independently audited.

05

Hosting and AI processing

DaXtra describes cloud “rings” and an on-site option but does not publish its hosting regions or where its AI models run. Its privacy policy allows data to be processed in any country where the group operates, under standard contractual clauses.

HireLayer parses CVs in Paris, France and stores files and extracted photos there, serving photos through short-lived signed links. Its in-house AI pipeline processes CV content in the EU, so AI processing stays in Europe but is not pinned to France. The web app is hosted in Europe.

Which to choose

When HireLayer fits, and when DaXtra is the better choice

Both lists come from the comparison above. If most of your requirements sit in the right-hand column, stay where you are.

Choose HireLayer when…

  • You are building your own product and want a JSON API you can sign up for and test today.
  • You want published per-credit prices and monthly plans.
  • You need staffing fields such as availability, mobility, driving licences and contract types in JSON.
  • Candidates send scanned or photographed CVs.

Stay with DaXtra when…

  • You are a staffing agency that wants parsing, search, formatting and engagement inside Bullhorn, Vincere or JobAdder.
  • Your procurement requires an externally audited matching feature.
  • You need HR-XML output or Apple Pages support.
  • You want one vendor for capture, search and candidate engagement.

Switching

Moving from DaXtra to HireLayer

The main work is replacing XML parsing with JSON and mapping fields. DaXtra’s request format is not public, so only the HireLayer call is shown.

Migration steps

  1. STEP 01

    Check your schema version

Each DaXtra profile records its schema version. Map from the version you actually receive, not from the latest documentation.

  2. STEP 02

    Replace XML handling

Swap DaxML or HR-XML parsing for JSON. HireLayer field names are stable within V3 and listed in the API reference.

  3. STEP 03

Keep recruiter tools in your product

Capture, formatting and engagement are not part of HireLayer. Decide which DaXtra modules you replace and which you keep.

  4. STEP 04

    Compare on your own files

Parse a permissioned sample of your agency CVs with both and compare the fields consultants actually filter on.

FAQ

HireLayer vs DaXtra: questions buyers ask

Where does HireLayer process CVs compared with DaXtra?

HireLayer parses CVs in Paris, France, stores files and photos there and processes CV content with its in-house AI pipeline in the EU. DaXtra does not publish its hosting regions; its privacy policy allows processing in any country where the group operates, and it offers on-site deployment.

How much does DaXtra cost?

DaXtra does not publish prices. Its Core, Pro and Elite tiers are sold through a demo or a sales conversation. HireLayer publishes its prices: €24 a month for 500 credits, €89 for 2,000, and one-time packs up to €449 for 10,000 credits.

Can HireLayer return XML or HR-XML like DaXtra?

No. HireLayer returns JSON only. If your system consumes HR-XML, you would convert the JSON on your side or keep a vendor that outputs HR-XML.

Does HireLayer integrate with Bullhorn?

Not as a marketplace app. HireLayer builds ATS connectors such as Bullhorn on request, or your team calls the API and writes the results to the ATS. DaXtra offers ready-made Bullhorn, Vincere and JobAdder integrations today.

Is HireLayer’s matching audited for bias like DaXtra’s?

No. DaXtra publishes a Warden AI audit of its matching; HireLayer has no third-party audit. HireLayer Match returns a status and explanation per criterion and a score you can recompute, which helps human review but is not an audit.

Which one parses CVs more accurately?

Neither publishes a reproducible benchmark: DaXtra’s accuracy figures have no published method and HireLayer has none. Parse the same permissioned agency CVs with both and compare the fields your consultants use.
