RChilli alternative

HireLayer vs RChilli: flat credits or a menu of operations

RChilli prices every operation in credits: one for a parse, one more if the file needs OCR, two for a match. It covers a lot of ground, from taxonomy to enterprise HCM connectors. HireLayer does less, charges one credit for any successful call and takes a plain multipart upload instead of a base64 JSON body.

Key differences

What actually differs

Both vendors sell more than parsing. The comparison comes down to how you are billed, how you call the API and how much of RChilli’s wider catalogue you use.

  1. 01

    Operation-based vs flat billing

RChilli’s cost sheet lists different credit costs per operation: 1 for a parse plus 1 for an OCR document, 2 for parse-and-index or a match, 0.3 for a taxonomy lookup. HireLayer charges 1 credit for any successful call on any of its five APIs, scans included.

  2. 02

    Request format

RChilli’s REST parser takes a JSON body with the file as base64, the file name, your user key, a sub-user id and a version string. HireLayer takes the file as multipart form data and the key in a header, which keeps credentials out of request bodies and logs.

  3. 03

    Catalogue breadth

RChilli adds a taxonomy API, redaction, a resume templater, a hosted search engine, FTP bulk parsing and connectors for Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, Salesforce and ServiceNow. HireLayer has no taxonomy, redaction or search endpoint and builds HCM connectors only on request; it focuses on parsing, job criteria, matching with explanations, skills normalization and ranking.

  4. 04

    Output conventions

RChilli returns 200+ fields with a confidence score on many of them and dates as text such as “July 2016”. HireLayer returns ISO dates, booleans and durations in months, plus CEFR and EQF levels, but no confidence scores.

HireLayer has no marketplace apps yet. Connectors for Zapier, Make, Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Tableau or your ATS are built by our team on request; in the meantime every API works from any HTTP step, with an optional webhook on each parse.

RChilli statuses come from its own documentation and the tools’ marketplaces. “Via API” means no connector exists but the API can be called from that tool.

Cost per CV

RChilli pricing vs HireLayer pricing

RChilli publishes its full Standard plan ladder in US dollars. Because OCR documents cost an extra credit, the share of scanned CVs changes RChilli’s total; it does not change HireLayer’s.

CVs parsed per month

Share of scanned CVs

HireLayer

€89 / month

Scale plan · €0.045 per CV · ≈ $101 / month

RChilli

$221 / month

Annual plan · 30,000 credits, billed yearly · $0.11 per CV

Lowest published option that covers the volume, at list prices. Excludes enterprise quotes and first-purchase offers. HireLayer credits are shared by all APIs; this assumes they all go to parsing. Bars compare USD equivalents at the ECB reference rate of 2026-09-30 (€1 = $1.1355).

Reading the numbers

With text-based CVs, HireLayer’s public plans cost less than RChilli’s cheapest matching plan up to about 10,000 CVs a month (€449 against $687.50 on an annual RChilli plan). At 50,000 a month RChilli’s annual ladder is cheaper than HireLayer’s public packs. Every scanned CV adds a credit on RChilli, so a high share of scans moves the break-even point in HireLayer’s favour.

Analysis

Formats, API design and extraction in detail

The practical points an engineering team hits when replacing RChilli.

01

Base64 bodies vs multipart uploads

RChilli’s parseResumeBinary endpoint expects the whole file base64-encoded inside a JSON body, next to the user key, a sub-user id and a version string. Base64 adds about a third to the payload and puts the credential in the body, where proxies and request logs may capture it.

HireLayer’s parser takes the file as multipart form data and the key in an X-API-Key header. The trade-off: RChilli can also fetch a resume from a public URL, which HireLayer cannot.

02

Bulk imports

RChilli supports bulk parsing by FTP: you place files on its server and receive one JSON payload per resume on your webhook. That suits a one-off migration of an old candidate database.

HireLayer has no bulk endpoint. You run one request per file from your own queue, which gives you control over retries and ordering but means you write that queue yourself.

03

Reading the output

RChilli’s ResumeParserData object is large: personal details, segregated experience and qualifications, a skill ontology, salary fields, a resume quality report and confidence scores. Dates are text (“July 2016”) and booleans such as IsCurrentEmployer arrive as strings, so most integrations write a normalization layer.

HireLayer’s V3 response is smaller and already normalized: ISO dates, a currently_active boolean, experience_duration in months, CEFR language levels and EQF education levels. It has no confidence scores and no CV quality report.

04

Enterprise HCM vs embedded API

RChilli is moving toward AI agents inside Oracle HCM and SAP SuccessFactors and lists ISO 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA. If you run one of those suites, RChilli plugs in where HireLayer would require custom code.

HireLayer targets teams that build their own recruiting product and call the API from their backend.

05

Hosting and where the AI runs

RChilli lets you pick a US, EU or Singapore region; its EU servers are in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Zurich and London, and none is in France. Its standard parser uses RChilli’s own engine. The optional LLM Parser, still in beta, sends documents to OpenAI or to your own Azure OpenAI deployment, and the region of that processing is not documented.

HireLayer parses CVs in Paris, France and stores files and extracted photos there, serving photos through short-lived signed links. Its in-house AI pipeline processes CV content in the EU, so AI processing stays in Europe but is not pinned to France. The web app is hosted in Europe.

Which to choose

When HireLayer fits, and when RChilli is the better choice

Both lists come from the comparison above. If most of your requirements sit in the right-hand column, stay where you are.

Choose HireLayer when…

  • You process fewer than about 10,000 CVs a month, or a large share of scanned CVs.
  • You want one flat credit across parsing, job criteria, matching, skills and ranking.
  • You prefer ISO dates and booleans to text dates and confidence scores.
  • You want matching that explains each criterion without maintaining a search index.

Stay with RChilli when…

  • You run Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, Salesforce or ServiceNow and want a packaged connector.
  • You need taxonomy lookups, redaction or a hosted search engine.
  • You want FTP bulk import for a large back catalogue.
  • You parse 50,000+ text-based CVs a month on an annual plan, or need on-premise hosting.

Switching

Moving from RChilli to HireLayer

The request changes from base64 JSON to multipart, and the output mapping is larger because RChilli’s schema is broader and uses text dates.

Migration steps

  1. STEP 01

    Stop encoding files

Send the file as multipart form data and move the key from the body to the X-API-Key header. There is no sub-user id or version parameter.

  2. STEP 02

    Simplify the normalization layer

Drop the code that turned text dates and string booleans into typed values; HireLayer returns ISO dates and booleans.

  3. STEP 03

    Replace bulk FTP

If you imported archives by FTP, push files through your own job queue and call the parser once per file, optionally with webhook_url.

  4. STEP 04

    Compare on your own files

Parse the same permissioned sample with both APIs and compare the fields you store before switching production traffic.

FAQ

HireLayer vs RChilli: questions buyers ask

Where does HireLayer process CVs compared with RChilli?

HireLayer parses CVs in Paris, France, stores files and photos there and processes CV content with its in-house AI pipeline in the EU. RChilli offers US, EU and Singapore regions, with EU servers in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Zurich and London, and its optional LLM Parser sends documents to OpenAI or your own Azure OpenAI deployment.

How much does RChilli cost compared with HireLayer?

RChilli’s Standard plan starts at $75 a month for 500 credits, or $825 a year for 6,000. HireLayer’s Starter plan is €24 a month for 500 credits. A scanned CV costs 2 credits on RChilli and 1 on HireLayer. At very high volume, RChilli’s annual plans become cheaper than HireLayer’s public packs.

Does HireLayer support bulk parsing like RChilli’s FTP upload?

No. HireLayer parses one file per request. For a large import, queue the files on your side and call the parser for each one; you can pass webhook_url to receive results as callbacks.

Does HireLayer return confidence scores like RChilli?

No. HireLayer does not return field-level confidence scores. It returns a 422 error when a document is not a CV, unreadable, empty or too long, so that no empty profile is created.

Is there a HireLayer connector for Oracle HCM or SAP SuccessFactors?

Not as a marketplace app. HireLayer builds connectors for Salesforce, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday or other suites on request. RChilli already publishes apps on Salesforce AppExchange, the SAP SuccessFactors Marketplace and Oracle Cloud Marketplace.

Which one parses more accurately?

There is no shared benchmark: RChilli does not publish a method for its figures and HireLayer has no published benchmark. Send the same permissioned CVs to both and score the fields you use.
